In his life, Dr. Wernher Von Braun went through many levels of education. He started grade school at the French Gymnasium school in Berlin, but he was not an exemplary student. His time then was occupied building a car in his fathers garage rather than studying in his teachers books. As a result of grades that were falling, Wernher's father sent him to a boarding school called the Hermann Lietz. Wernher's time away from home helped his grades to improve, and ultimately, his interest in astronomy. After grade school, Wernher enrolled at Berlin's Charlottenburg Institute of Technology, where he studied engineering. His time at college enhanced and renewed his interest in rocketry and as a result, he helped to found the German Society for Space Travel. Additionally, Wernher also went to the Humboldt University of Berlin, and a school in Zurich, Switzerland called ETH Zurich.
The building above is one of the three colleges Wernher attended for education. This particular one is the Charlottenburg Institute of Technology.
